The Tasting is the meeting of two people who seem to have nothing in common: Jacques (Bernard Campan) is a divorced wine merchant with serious heart problems. Hortense (Isabelle Carré) is an unmarried Catholic midwife who dreams of having a child. Around the wine’s color and aroma, their bitter journeys will mingle with those of the most disadvantaged: the homeless people and Steve (Mounir Amamra), a young “social case” rejected by foster families, who will try to reintegrate by working in Jacques’ wine cellar. From the combination of these hard and soft skills and know-how will emerge a special aroma to be discovered with great pleasure.

- Crisply scripted and performed with a light touch, the genius of this movie is the way it tenderly approaches serious issues such as grief, addiction and childlessness. Serve with your wine of choice and a big box of tissues. France Today Editors
