Born and raised among horses, Zoe leads a happy life driven by the dream of one day a rider as his father. Zoe’s favorite horse gives birth to a foal they call Storm. She will be the first to see in him the champion that her family has always been waiting but an accident will leave her with serious sequelae. Film Affinity

Not since a teenage Elizabeth Taylor rode her steed to victory in National Velvet has a film about a kid and a horse proven such an effective tearjerker as Christian Duguay’s French drama about a young girl who doesn’t let a terrible accident prevent her from pursuing her dream of becoming a jockey. The film may feel predictable at times in its plot machinations, but it nonetheless exerts a solid emotional pull that should make it a crowd-pleaser upon its theatrical release

Frank Sheck – The Hollywood Reporter

“Tearjerker” is a word to make toes curl. But the French family drama Ride Above is an uplifting one in the best, most honest way, without schmaltz (…) The excellent performances create an emotive picture of a loving family in crisis that overrides the predictable courage-in-adversity story, as a stable hand – actor Kacey Mottet Klein, also splendid – helps Zoe return to the saddle and fulfil her destiny (…) Hot take: Heartstrings will be pulled by the sincere and well-acted melodrama.
