Youth Festival 2026

Cinéfranco thanks its generous sponsors

Cinéfranco in partnership with

Dear teachers,

It is with immense joy that Cinéfranco Jeunesse celebrates its 18th edition under the banner of educational, civic, and enjoyable values that are, as always, wholly positive.

The dedicated Cinéfranco Jeunesse team has searched far and wide for films to immerse you in humour, visual poetry, fantasy, and a certain measured seriousness. These films tell stories on a child’s and teenager’s level, blending pleasure, discovery, and the desire to discuss and speak (in French, of course). In every case, children or teenagers are protagonists faced with challenges that they handle with courage and resilience, demonstrating the importance of solidarity, friendship, family, respect for historical memory, and the fight against injustice and discrimination

Our warmest thanks go to Canadian Heritage, the Ontario Arts Council, the Ministry of Education, Telefilm Canada, and Ontario Creates for their indispensable support. Immense gratitude as well to our partners, who give us such visibility in our communities.

Hats off to the entire Cinéfranco team, who give their all to bring your students the radiant pleasure and joy of watching films with their teachers, their parents and family chaperones, their classmates, and students from other schools who come from all over to share a rich range of emotions.

Marcelle Lean
Founder – Artistic Director
Co-director of the 2026 Youth Program

It is with great excitement and pleasure that we kick off our programming for the Youth Festival 2025! As always, our movie selection reflects our commitment to bringing teachers and students stories of hope, love, and transformation. As a passionate pedagogue, I am proud of the thoughtful choices we’ve made, ensuring they align with curriculum goals while inspiring meaningful dialogue.

We strive to create experiences that spark curiosity, nurture empathy, and encourage young minds to see the world through new perspectives. Each film has been chosen not only for its artistic merit but also for its ability to connect with the values of education and community.

To further support teachers in their classrooms, we are pleased to provide educational tool kits designed to help explore the important themes and ideas presented in the films. These resources aim to inspire creative activities, deepen critical thinking, and foster meaningful discussions that extend the impact of the festival beyond the screening room.

Together, let us celebrate the power of storytelling to ignite imagination, foster resilience, and remind us all that learning extends far beyond the classroom!

Above all, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the community, teachers, students, and parents whose support makes this festival possible. We are deeply grateful to be part of such an extraordinary movement of Francophone cinephiles;  a collective that continues to champion culture, language, and the transformative magic of cinema.

With gratitude,
Cécile Robertson
Co-lead Cinéfranco Youth Festival
