Since her mother left the family home, 12-year-old Margot has been clinging to the hope that she will return. One evening after school, she comes home to find her usually withdrawn father, Marcel, openly smitten with Jeanne—an old classmate he has recently reconnected with. Soon after, Margot is stunned to see her little brother suddenly playing the guitar with remarkable talent, despite never having touched the instrument before.

The next day in science class, Margot manages to dissect a frog in record time, leaving her best friend in shock. When Marcel announces that Jeanne will be moving in with them, Margot—alarmed by the strange events surrounding her new stepmother—decides to take drastic measures to prove that Jeanne is, in fact, a witch. • In My Stepmother Is a Witch, we follow the story of Margot (Juliette Aubé), a socially isolated 12-year-old girl who struggles to accept her parents’ separation. One day after school, she encounters Jeanne (Marilyn Castonguay), a mysterious woman who has just moved into her home after seemingly placing a spell on her father (Pierre-Yves Cardinal).

  • Although her father insists that Jeanne is merely a former classmate he lost touch with years ago, Margot becomes convinced that she is actually a witch trying to replace her mother—especially since Jeanne appears to be hiding a crystal ball and magical potion recipes in her trailer. Determined to protect her family, Margot turns to Madame Dalloway (Marc-André Leclair), an expert in the occult, for help in driving Jeanne away.
