Adelaide, Simon and their two young kids, oppressed in their cramped onebedroom flat in the city, dream of having a peaceful house of their own with a garden. So the day they find a spacious country home on a gorgeous piece of land at an amazing price, they buy it fast! The village, way out in the country, is as charming as the people who live there. But once they’ve fixed up the house and moved in, they find out the hitch: a legal access in their deed of sale allows the entire village to hunt on their property. It’s not long before beasts start trampling into the house and bullets start flying! Adelaide and Simon come up with a plan to prevent the hunters from disturbing their home, but the locals find out and devise countermeasures. The war is on! Will they ever make it out of the crossfire and find a way to live together in peace?

      • The dialogues are effective and the situationstasty. And in the role of the grumpy hunter, DidierBourdon is hilarious.
        Le Parisien
      • The directors – the beginner Antonin Fourlon and the experienced Frédéric Forestier – demonstrate an undeniable mastery of the comedy of repetition, with short fuses (the string of clichés about Paris) as well as long fuses (the safety instructions before each hunting trip). The whole culminates with a medieval banquet, punctuated by bawdy songs…
        Télérama
      • Didier Bourdon, whose reputation is well established, brings added value to this comedy. His presence on the set is a real guarantee of quality, as is that of the no less talented Thierry Lhermitte. Meanwhile, Hakim Jemili, well known to audiences for his sharp wit and repartee, promises moments of laughter. Finally, the presence of Camille Lou, appreciated for her multiple talents as an actress and singer, adds undeniable charm to this cast. (…)If you’re a fan of French comedies, then Chasse gardée is a film not to be missed this winter.
        Sortir à Paris
      • Two weeks after its release in France at the end of December, the comedy Chasse gardée, by Antonin Fourlon and Frédéric Forestier, caused a surprise by becoming number one at the box-office. Why is that?… It is neither the staging nor the originality of the story that has charmed an unexpected number of spectators in recent months. Chasse gardée is more surprising for its nuanced humour and the acuity of its view of neo-rurales — their customs being opposed to those of provincial hunters, of course. Starring comic stars, including Didier Bourdon and Thierry Lhermitte, the film was also appreciated for its tenderness towards the different social classes it represents, without sparing anyone.
        Le Devoir
      • The parents, played by the actors Camille Lou and Hakim Jemili, are very good too. Thierry Lhermitte, in a supporting role, makes a very noticeable appearance, saying in particular: “Your problem is that you have left the madmen of Paris for the crazy people of the countryside!” Indeed, but these “crazy” are frankly funny and endearing, even if a little too caricatured.
