Paris, 1928. Antoine Balestro, a fashionable young painter, has been unable to work since the death of his wife Irène, to the despair of his art dealer Armand. One drunken evening, Antoine tries to contact his wife through a medium. Without knowing it, he is actually speaking with Suzanne, a modest fairground performer who had sneaked into the fortune-teller’s caravan to steal food. Suzanne turns out to be a gifted impostor and, quickly assisted by Armand, keeps up the fake séances. Little by little, Antoine finds his inspiration again, but things get complicated for Suzanne as she slowly falls in love with the man she is manipulating…

  • « A lively romantic comedy carried by a delightful cast, marking a strong comeback for director Pierre Salvadori. »
    La Presse

  • “A charming, well-crafted sentimental tale, where lies and deception take the shape of poetry.”
    Translated from aVoir-aLire.com

  • “A lively romantic comedy, carried by a delightful quartet of actors, marking Pierre Salvadori’s return to form.”
    Translated from La Presse

  • “The film crackles, sparkles, and produces flashes of illumination, following the thrilling trajectory of Suzanne, a down-to-earth and wary girl, who gradually awakens to love — to emotion and to a recital of sensations: tactile, visual, olfactory. Beneath the joyful grace of this comedy, akin to a fairy tale, lies a hidden virtue: belief, as a source of wonder.”
