Famed entrepreneur Vincent finds his frantic life interrupted when his car breaks down on a mountain road. Pierre, who lives hidden from the modern world in the middle of nature, comes to his aid and offers Vincent his hospitality. The meeting between these two polar opposites upsets their respective beliefs and changes their lives.

  • For many, the alpine backdrop and the central pair’s bluster and banter will make the journey to that inevitable destination more than worthwhile.

  • Crisply scripted and performed with a light touch, the genius of this movie is the way it tenderly approaches serious issues such as grief, addiction and childlessness. Serve with your wine of choice and a big box of tissues.

  • The film celebrates, as the title suggests, a simple life that brings us closer to ourselves and to nature. The landscape that Besnard and his cinematographer Jean-Marie Dreujou ( Notre Dame in Flames ) share with us is a dream for any nature lover.

Tense and undermined by jealousy and lies before taking a friendly tangent, their relationship is told in the sometimes light, sometimes more moving, tone of dramatic comedy, in a style that suits the greatest number.
