France’s newly elected president, Paul Archambault, faces an unprecedented crisis from the moment he takes office: his Russian counterpart, the target of an assassination attempt, issues a nuclear ultimatum threatening a French ally. Facing the risk of military escalation, the president gathers his staff inside the real underground “Jupiter” command post beneath the Élysée Palace, where he must make a dizzying, irreversible decision against the clock.

Translation Allociné

  • “A chamber thriller, where tension comes from time running out and the weight of an irreversible choice.” – ANSA (on the Venice Film Festival premiere)

  • “Jupiter feels more timely than [director Alexandre Smia] ever imagined” — the director says we’ve “entered the third nuclear age.” – Variety

  • “Alexandre Smia’s taut, tense and dynamic thriller, Jupiter, deals with a world on the verge of nuclear annihilation–A MAD world: Mutual Assured Destruction. (…) Jupiter is an enlightening and brutal examination of power, the limitations of diplomacy and impossibility of a world where a deranged leader can have access to a button that might destroy civilization.” – The Contending
