In a brave effort to reconnect with her family, a Canadian filmmaker returns to her ancestral home of Guadeloupe to discover families torn apart over land inheritance — a relic of French colonial legacy that continues to fracture Guadeloupean families today. What begins as an attempt to understand a dispute over inherited land expands into a broader investigation of colonial legal structures — known as “Indivision” — that continue to shape generations of families across the Caribbean, revealing how questions of ownership are inseparable from belonging, memory, and cultural identity.
